Lessons take place weekly over the 39 weeks of the local school year (or however much is left of the school year when the student joins). Once you have agreed to regular lessons (there is no commitment necessary for the first two lessons) I will calculate a monthly fee that spreads the cost of those term-time lesson over the rest of the year, including August.
The fee is £34.50 an hour. Most lessons are 40 minutes (my minimum) - £23.
There are no refunds (except, to a limited degree, for weekday daytime lessons - see below), but if I am given 24 hours' notice I will attempt to reschedule a lesson. If the student can fit in their catch-up lesson during school term-time I can almost guarantee the catch-up lesson will not be lost.
I require two weeks' notice of terminating lessons plus the 24 hours' notice, and am happy to teach those two weeks’ lessons if requested, but any pending catch-up lessons will be lost. When notice of leaving is given, depending on the timings of the monthly fees versus the year’s schedule of lessons, there is normally a final invoice to pay; occasionally there is a refund due from me.
I will send you more detailed terms and conditions once you express an interest in committing to the regular lesson slot.
Older learners taking lessons during school hours can be more flexible with their scheduling. I will offer refunds of up to 5 lessons of the scheduled 39 lessons per year, but in return for this I require 48 rather than 24 hours notice of change or cancellation, since changes to these lessons are more disruptive than changes to my regular after-school teaching hours.
Online lessons are available, at the same price. One-off online lessons have also proved useful to many of my students when short-notice logistical issues would otherwise mean cancellation and a lost lesson.
